We take the security of your data very seriously

With DDW, the data of your farm clients is in safe hands. We have numerous policies in place to make sure that it will continue to be stored safely and securely.

DDW works on the principle that the data provider (in most cases this will be the farm owner) remains the owner of the data. As a consequence it is him exclusively who decides whether DDW is allowed to transfer and store his farm data on the DDW dairy data platform and who has the right to view them. DDW will never display individual , non anonymized farm data to anyone who has not been authorized by the farmer.

Herd Data Policy The HDP aims to clarify to data providers (generally farmers) how their herd data will be used and to what extent herd data is made available to permitted users (generally farm consultants), and then with what limitations. Further, by the HDP DDW wants those that use the herd data provided by DDW to understand the rational behind any constraints DDW may have regarding the availability of herd data.

Data Upload Terms The DUT contains in essence all the consents and approvals that are necessary from the farmer (or other provider of data, where the data is collected by the DDW software/tool), ie. consent to install the DDW software / application, extract herd data, and share herd data with those the farmer consents to, as well as to use (anonymously by DDW for its business purpose).

Terms of Use This is accepted by users of DDW, ie vets, consultants, dealers etc., but not by data providers/farmers (unless the farmer is also a user). In the Terms of Use, there is a reference to “Access Rights”, which are the rights granted and commercial terms agreed.

Privacy Statement This document could be said to form part of the Terms of Use (the Terms of Use contain a clickable link to the Privacy Statement). This is in essence the personal data component of the Terms of Use. So similarly with the Terms of Use, the Privacy Statement is accepted by users of DDW, ie vets, consultants, dealers etc., but not by data providers/farmers (unless the farmer is also a user). The Data Upload Terms contain everything needed from a personal data perspective.

Data storage and backup

We go to extreme measures to make sure that your data is stored and backed up safely and securely –

• Data placed in dedicated primary data center in Germany.

• Double firewalls to stop unwanted incoming traffic and use Access Control Lists to control who has access to different data.
• Internet facing servers are placed on a DMZ (demilitarized Zone) network which is between the internal network and the Internet.
• Back up life data base in secondary data center for availability reasons in case the primary data center goes down.
• Dual internet lines into data centers.
• The servers are protected with antivirus software.

• Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems.
